The content exchange repository is used for distributing offers (resource bundles) from syndicators to subscribers. The repository contains administrative data that controls the distribution of content as well as the actual content that is distributed.
In contrast to the ICE service, which carries out the distribution of offers using HTTP connections or e-mail and therefore needs an online connection, the ICE repository is responsible for distributing content in ways that require no online connection. The ICE repository enables the creation of zip files from the relevant offers. These offers are then made available to subscribers (for example, on CD-ROM). When the zip files reach the subscriber, they are also implemented using the ICE repository.
For more information, see Content Exchange .
