The SAP Management Console perspective in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (Developer Studio) presents information in three views of a window.

General Layout

The SAP Management Console (Tree) navigation view displays available information in a tree structure that can be expanded and collapsed. The SAP Management Console (Results) result view displays detailed information about any item selected in the navigation view. The output view shows detailed information about the trace and log files.

The system icons and the views for instances, processes, and alerts are displayed in different colors, depending on their state. The colors indicate the following:

  • Gray : Unknown state, only outdated values, system is offline

  • Green : Running

  • Yellow : Starting or critical

  • Red : Error

Navigation View

To access detailed information about your SAP system, you have to fully expand the relevant instance and then select an item. When you select an item, the SAP MC displays the corresponding information in the result view. The following table summarizes the available options:

Tree Node

Description

SAP Systems

The root node for all registered systems and instances.

SAP system - for example, CE1

Node for an SAP system. The colors indicate states that are derived from the SAP instance sub-nodes and are automatically refreshed.

Database

Node for the database of the SAP system.

SAP instance - for example, SCS00 on <host>

Node for an SAP instance. The color indicates the state that is automatically refreshed and inherited from the Process List sub-node.

Process List

Displays the processes started by the start service and their status. The color is automatically refreshed and reflects the worst state of all started processes.

Open Alerts

Displays the most serious alerts in the system.

Current Status

Displays detailed information on the current status of the system. It allows you to navigate to different categories of system information and levels of detail.

Access Points

Displays the communication ports used by the system.

Process Table

Displays information about the application server processes. The application server has to be started, but does not have to be functioning properly as the shared memory of the application server is accessed. You have to refresh the information manually.

Caches

Displays monitoring information about the performance and content of the caches in the Java instance.

The red state of the caches icons does not indicate problems in the system. It notifies that the red caches have not yet brought performance to the system or are not yet used. It can be a warning for a wrong utilization by the cache owner.

Threads

Displays details and statistics for the threads managed by the application server. The red color of the thread icon indicates that the processing time is too long.

Sessions

Displays details and statistics of the application server HTTP/HTTPS sessions.

Aliases

Displays a list of the aliases of the currently deployed applications.

GC History

Displays detail and statistics of the last few garbage collection events.

Heap Memory

Displays details about the current size of the application server heap memory.

EJB Sessions

Displays details and statistics of the application Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) sessions.

Remote Objects

Displays statistics of the remote objects to which external users are connected at the time of monitoring.

Shared Object Table

Displays information about the capacity, current usage and peaks of the shared memory segment of the monitoring.

AS Java Cluster Messages

Displays information about the internal communication between the components of the cluster elements.

ICM

Displays information about ICM threads, connections, caches, and proxy list.

Log Files

Displays the log, trace and system files.

You can update the information at any time by choosing the icon with the quick info text Refresh the selected object .

Result Pane

In the result view, for lists that normally have many rows, there is an additional filter function in the table header. If you enter data in the filter fields, only matching table rows are displayed. To disable applied filters, from the context menu of the table header choose Delete , and then choose the icon with the quick info text Refresh the selected object .
