This guide describes the configuration steps required to set up SAP NetWeaver PI within a system landscape that has already been installed using the Master Guide.

Prerequisites

Required Users and Roles

To configure SAP NetWeaver PI, you need the following roles on each host (SAP NetWeaver Application Server) in your landscape:

  • SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR (mandatory)

  • SAP_XI_CONFIGURATOR (mandatory)

  • SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR (mandatory for the SLD configuration)

  • SAP_SLD_CONFIGURATOR (mandatory for the SLD configuration)

For test purposes, it is recommended that you also assign the other available roles.

User menus for the roles are in the easy access menu of the application server (AS) ABAP. All the role-specific ABAP user menus contain a reference (transaction SXMB_IFR) to the start page of the Java-based PI tools. This start page opens in a Web browser and provides access to the exchange profile and the PI online documentation.
