Monitoring the Integration EngineLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can monitor locally the processes on an Integration Engine using the tools available in Runtime Workbench, as well as the tools in transaction SXMB_MONI.

Note
  • You can also use Runtime Workbench to monitor processes on the local Advanced Adapter Engine. We recommend you monitor these processes using the tools in SAP NetWeaver Administrator.

  • When you use the Advanced Adapter Engine Extended, the Runtime Workbench cannot be used for monitoring purposes.

Integration
  • The central tool for monitoring the integration processes in your landscape is the PI Monitoring dashboard in the Technical Monitoring Work Center in SAP Solution Manager. When you find there that certain processes or messages on a particular Integration Engine should be reviewed more thoroughly, you can navigate to the corresponding monitor in Runtime Workbench or SXMB_MONI.

  • The access to the monitoring tools can be managed using a set of predefined user roles and actions. For more information, see Dialog Users (AS ABAP) .

Features

Configuration

  • You can check whether the Process Integration components were registered correctly in System Landscape Directory during the configuration, to correct them if necessary, and to register further components. For more information, see Registering Components in SLD .

  • You can configure the system to inform you of errors during message processing. For more information, see Alert Configuration .

  • The SAP Computing Center Management System provides a special alert monitor for PI. You can use this alert monitor to monitor the PI components on AS ABAP and AS Java centrally. For more information, see Monitoring Using CCMS .

Monitoring

  • You can monitor the processing of messages and message packages on the local Integration Engine, display an overview of all defined jobs, and execute error and status tracking using the SXMB_MONI transaction. For more information, see Monitoring XML Messages .

  • You can track the status of messages with Runtime Workbench, and if you find errors you can establish what caused them. For more information, see Message Monitoring .

  • You can monitor objects that are currently in the runtime cache of a selected component. For more information, see Cache Monitoring .

  • You can obtain an overview of the status of the individual PI components, call the configuration data of individual components, and display various information about the components in your landscape. For more information, see Component Monitoring .

  • You display information about communication channels and administrate these channels. For more information, see Communication Channel Monitor .

  • You can monitor message processing steps in a number of SAP components, as well as the path of individual messages through these SAP components, from start to end. For more information, see End-to-End Monitoring .

  • You can display statistical data on the performance of message processing. For more information, see Performance Monitoring .

  • You can search for messages and display them using the Messaging System monitor. For more information, see Messaging System Monitor .
