1. Overview

Using the Structure Display tool, you can display and edit structures as you like, including their contents and properties. The structure display consists of two views. These are represented by the tab titles Structures and Field List. The structure view contains the names of the structures selected by the user and their current status in the form of a history for special tools.

To see the field list, double-click the name of a structure. In this view, first the name and type of the selected structure are displayed. Then you see the column overviews for the individual structure components. Similar to the Overview of Variables, these have the following specifications:

·  Expansion option

·  Component name

·  Type of value

·  Value

·  Changeability

·  Technical type

·  Hexadecimal value

·  Absolute type

·  Read-only flag

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

If the structure contains nesting, the Exp. Column will have the icon for the Expand function right in front of the component concerned. If you double-click this icon with the left mouse button, all the data objects that are part of this component will be displayed. After you have expanded the list, the Collapse icon will be displayed. You can also perform this function by means of double-click.

If the component is a single field, the Change column will contain the icon for the Change Field Content function. If you double-click this icon, the Value field will be ready for input again. However, the entered value must be confirmed by pressing the ENTER key.

Note If you wish to perform mass changes on component values, you can use the function Tool Services Change All Structure Components. In this way, all changeable data objects of the structure are automatically made ready for input simultaneously. Here, too, you need to press the ENTER key to complete the action for each individual field. In addition, you can use the Tool Services function to call other services, such as Local Save or Search in all columns.

2. Navigation

For a structure to be listed in the structure display via navigation, you first need to copy it to the list of variables either by double-clicking in the Editor or by entering a name in the Overview of Variables. When you double-click the structure there, this will trigger the structure display, if this was not yet active. If the work area already has already reached the maximum number of four tools without the structure display, again another window will be opened and you will be asked which tool you would like to swap – similar to the Editor.

If you double-click in the structure itself, you will get to the appropriate special view. If you double-click an individual field, you will branch to the Detailed Display, while double-clicking an internal table will call the Table Display. Here you should note that no new tool will be started. Instead, the tables replace the structure display. At the same time, you will see the icon for the Back function beside the table view. It will be in the form of a light green arrow. You can use this icon to branch to the structure display.

If the structure contains other structures as components, the structure display will remain displayed – provided this component is expanded to its individual components using the Expand function. Finally, the system branches to the Object Display if the structure shows a component as reference.
