Web Page Composer allows users in the departments of a company to create and publish Web pages for a company-internal intranet or an external information portal.
The IT department can delegate the creation and management of Web content to users in the departments. Within each department, you can distribute the tasks between user groups with different permissions:
● A Web-site owner in the department is the central contact person for the IT department and can assign permissions to other users within his or her Web site. In addition, Web-site owners create the navigation structure for their Web sites.
● Authors can contribute individual articles and other Web content.
● Editors put together Web pages containing articles, link lists, and other Web content and publish these in the portal.
Web Page Composer provides various tools that allow users to create and maintain Web content simply:
● XML-based editors: XML-based editors for creating articles, link lists, and other types of content are part of the standard system. In these editors, authors and editors can enter their content as if they were using a form.
If the forms contained in the standard system do not meet your requirements in full, you can create your own Web forms and integrate these in Web Page Composer.
● Page editor: The standard system contains several page layouts for creating Web pages. A page layout defines several areas, known as containers. Editors can use Drag&Drop to include articles, link lists, and other Web content in these containers.
If the page layouts contained in the standard system do not meet your requirements in full, you can create your own page layouts and integrate these in the portal.
● Web site management: Web-site owners use a preconfigured iView to manage their Web sites and create the Web site navigation.
There is a design-time version and a runtime version of each Web page and Web site navigation, which are completely separate from one another. At runtime, the portal renders the Web pages and the navigation. They are integrated seamlessly in the portal navigation.
The following features appear on every Web page as standard:
● Send feedback to owner
● The content of every page can be made available as an RSS feed
● Send e-mail (with a link to the Web page)
● Print a Web page without the portal masthead and navigation bars
● Add to browser favorites
● Consistent look and feel
● Integration of Web content and portal content (iViews) on a single page
● Integration in the portal search
● Indexing of public pages by external search engines possible
● Online editing: Editors with write-permission see an additional link, Edit Page in the runtime. They can use this link to directly launch the page editor and make changes.
● Localization: You can provide the content of your Web pages in more than one language. You can also display different content depending on the region of the logged-on user.
All language-specific and regional versions of a Web page are available in the same navigation node and using the same URL. The user settings dictate which language-specific or regional version is displayed.
