Installation Without TREX: Hiding the Search Field 

Use

The Search and Classification Engine (TREX) enables the use of search functions within Knowledge Management. You cannot use the search functions if TREX is not installed. However, the search field still appears in the portal top-level navigation. You can choose to hide this search field if you prefer. 

 

Prerequisites

TREX is not installed and you do not intend to install it.

 

Procedure

Proceed as follows to hide the search field:

       1.      In the portal, choose Content Administration ® Portal Content.

       2.      Choose Portal Content  ® Content Provided By SAP  ®  End User Content  ®  Standard Portal Users. Double-click Default Framework Page.

       3.      On the Default Framework tab page, select Page Content and Tool Area. Choose Open..

       4.      In the tool area of the property editor, choose Show All as the property category. Scroll down to Enable KM Search and Enable KM Search Advanced. Select No for both these entries and then click Save.

The search engine field remains visible until the cache validity expires and you refresh the browser window. To find out how long it takes for the cache to expire, see the entry for the Cache Validity Period in the property editor tool area. If the cache validity period is not displayed, choose Show All for the property category.
