Reducing the Size of the Windows File Cache 

Use

The Windows file cache directly competes with SAP programs for physical memory by pushing them out of the memory. Therefore, you should minimize the file cache as described below.

Procedure

Windows Server 2003

...

       1.      Choose Start ® All Programs ® Control Panel ® System.

       2.      On the System Properties screen, choose Advanced ® Performance Settings.

       3.      Choose the Advanced tab.

       4.      For Processor scheduling: Adjust for best performance of, select Background services.

       5.      For Memory usage: Adjust for best performance of, select Programs.

       6.      Confirm your entries with OK.

Windows Server 2008

       1.      Choose Start ® Control Panel ® System.

       7.      On the System Properties screen, choose Advanced ® Advanced System Settings.

       8.      Choose the Advanced tab.

       9.      For Processor Scheduling: Adjust for best performance of, choose Background services.

   10.      Confirm your entries with OK.
