You can use the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) to find information for the database administrator for administration of the database system.
The CCMS in the SAP system provides extensive support for database administration. You can handle the most important administrative tasks through the SAP system and no longer need to work directly at operating system level. Logs are created within the SAP system for these activities that keep you well informed about administrative tasks you need to perform as well as any problems within the database.
You can perform most regularly recurring database administration actions in the SAP system using the CCMS database administration tools.
This includes DBA actions from the data backup, performance tuning, and monitoring areas. If you perform these actions regularly, you can ensure that your database system performs well, perform the data backups required for the security of your database system, and identify problems in the database system in good time.
The MaxDB database system supports the following SAP application areas:
· OLTP operation (Online Transaction Processing) of an SAP system with a high number of users and large volumes of data, which is based on the relational database system MaxDB.
· Supply Chain Management (such as APO), which is based on SAP liveCache technology.
You can use the following tools, among other things, to manage your database system: DBA planning calendar, Database/liveCache Assistant, Database/liveCache Alert Monitor. These tools and their use are described in the following documentation:
