Partitioning for BI on IBM eServer iSeries (New)

Use

From SAP NetWeaver 7.0, InfoCubes and PSA tables can also be partitioned when using DB2/400 as DB platform.

A prerequisite for this is using a database version of at least V5R3M0 and the installation of the component DB2 Multi System.

For InfoCubes, the table partitioning has to be set explicitly in InfoCube maintenance in the Data Warehousing Workbench.

The partitioning of PSA tables has to be activated using the RSADMIN parameter DB4_PSA_PARTITIONING=’X’, otherwise PSA tables are not partitioned.

Effects on Existing Data

Existing InfoCubes and PSA tables are not affected by the new functionality, they will continue to not be partitioned after the upgrade to SAP NetWeaver 7.0.

Effects on System Administration

Remember that BI systems with active table partitioning can only be copied to other IBM iSeries with the SAVLIB/RSTLIB process (homogeneous system copy) when the prerequisites described above are fulfilled in the target system, that is, at least V5R3 and DB2 Multi Systems are in use.
