Use

With SAP NetWeaver 7.0, the repartitioning of InfoCubes and DataStore objects on the database that are already filled is supported.

The term Partitioning entails the following database-specific functions:

DB-Specific Function

Database

Multidimensional clustering (MDC)

DB2 UDB for UNIX/WINDOWS

Range partitioning

DB2/OS390DB2 for z/OS

Range partitioning

ORACLE

Range partitioning

MSSQL

With partitioning, the runtime for reading and modifying access to InfoCubes and DataStore objects can be decreased. Using repartitioning, non-partitioned InfoCubes and DataStore objects can be partitioned or the partitioning schema for already partitioned InfoCubes and DataStore objects can be adapted.

You can call the repartitioning or reclustering in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the Administration area.

The repartitioning of InfoCubes is currently supported on the following databases:

      UDB for UNIX/WINDOWS

      DB2 for z/OSDB2/OS390

      DB2/AS400

      ORACLE

      MSSQL

The repartitioning of DataStore objects is currently supported on the following databases:

      DB2 UDB for UNIX/WINDOWS

Effects on Existing Data

Partitioning changes the storage of InfoCubes and DataStore objects on the database. It could also be that certain administrative operations are required on the database before repartitioning is performed. For this reason, make sure that you read the database-specific information on partitioning in the BI system.
