Use

Using the pattern wizard, you can configure the Information Consumer Pattern to a certain extent to suit your requirements.

Prerequisites

You are in the Web Application Designer and have called the pattern wizard as follows to configure the Information Consumer Pattern:

...

       1.      In the Web Application Designer menu bar, choose Web Template ® New.

       2.      On the All Patterns and Web Templates tab page, choose BI Patterns ® Information Consumer Pattern (ICP).

Procedure

To configure the pattern, follow the steps as displayed by the pattern wizard:

...

       1.      Design and content of the toolbar

In the first step of the wizard, specify whether the pattern is to have an application toolbar and whether this is to be displayed on one or two rows. Note that the two-row toolbar provides functions that are not available in the one-line toolbar. In this step, you can also specify which pushbuttons are to be displayed initially.

       2.      Settings for the dropdown box

In the second step of the wizard, specify the content for the dropdown box, which is part of every Information Consumer Pattern. Using the open dialog and the text input dialog, you specify values for the following elements for each entry in the dropdown box:

       Data provider

Reusable Web item that you created beforehand in the Web Application Designer (see Working with Reusable Web Items)

       Description of the entry

You can also specify the following settings:

Whether the dropdown box is to be visible initially

Whether the entries in the dropdown box are to be sorted alphabetically

Whether the currently selected filter values are to be applied when the user switches the entry in the dropdown box

       3.      Settings for the filter pane

In the third step of the wizard, using the input help dialog, select the characteristic values that are to be displayed in the filter pane of the executed Web application.

       4.      Miscellaneous settings

In the fourth and final step of the wizard, specify the following additional settings for the pattern:

       General settings

You can specify whether the variable screen is to be displayed and whether the function for the report-report interface is to be used in the pattern. If you select the Report-Report Interface checkbox, this is displayed as an entry in the context menu of the Web application.

       Title settings

You can specify whether the Information Consumer Pattern is to be displayed with a title. You can use the query description as the title or you can create a language-independent text using the text input dialog.

Size settings for reusable Web item

You can specify the width and height of the Web item for data display (analysis or chart). For the Analysis Web item, you can also specify how many rows are to be displayed in the table. If you leave these fields blank, the default settings are applied.

       Additional Web templates

You can specify Web templates for the header or footer areas of the executed Web application. You can use these Web templates, for example, to integrate logos into the Web application.

You can complete configuration of the pattern in one of the following ways:

      Save As…

Using this option, you can save the edited pattern under any name.

      Back

Using this option, you can return to the previous step in the pattern wizard.

      Finish

Using this option you can end the pattern wizard and apply the changes made to the pattern. The initial screen for the pattern wizard appears; from there you can edit the pattern again as required.

Note

If you have edited a pattern, but have not yet saved it with a name, you can call the save dialog by saving the pattern.

      Cancel

Using this option, you can end the pattern wizard. Any changes made to the pattern are ignored.

Result

You have configured the Information Consumer pattern as required and have saved it for later use.
