New Process Type Close Real-Time InfoPackage Request

In SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 8, process chain maintenance has been enhanced by a new process type Close Real-Time InfoPackage Request.

When you transfer data using a Web service or use service APIs for real-time data acquisition, the InfoPackage requests (also called PSA requests) remain open across more than one load process to facilitate operational reporting on DataStore objects. The requests are closed when the threshold values set in the InfoPackage are reached. The system opens new requests and data transfer is continued using the new requests.

With the new process type, you can close an open PSA request for a Web service DataSource or a DataSource for real-time data acquisition in an SAP source system before the threshold value is reached.

This means that you can use a Web service to send data to BI and then use the standard scheduling process to update it further. Or, you can perform regular analyses at set times on an InfoProvider that is down stream of a DataStore object that you are using for real-time data acquisition.

Data Transfer Process in the Log View of the Process Chain

In the log view of a process chain, you can call the display of target and source objects from the context menu of the data transfer process. This is valid as of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 8. The system displays either the maintenance interface of the object (for example, the DataSource) or the administration view of the object (for example, for the DataStore object).

In addition, you can call the where-used list for DTP requests from the context menu.
