In addition to the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver '04 and earlier SAP BW releases, SAP is shipping a new version of the BEx Analyzer. This new BEx Analyzer provides the following new features:
● Input and display of Unicode texts is supported.
● Support for visually-impaired or blind users has been improved.
● Functions of BI Integrated Planning can be called in the BEx Analyzer.
● Excel-based application designs are also available; to create planning applications, for example.
● The integration of Microsoft Excel formatting has also been improved.
● Note that the new functions for the BEx Analyzer are only available for the BEx Analyzer for SAP NetWeaver 7.0.
● Note that GIS functions are only available with the BEx Web (BEx Web Application Designer).
● Note that some of the BEx Query Designer functions from Release SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and some of the BEx Web functions from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (such as functions from the exceptions and conditions areas) are not available with the BEx Analyzer in SAP NetWeaver 7.0.
● A new menu sequence and a new context menu are available.
● Drag and drop functions are also supported.
● You can now sort at the push of a button.
To continue to support the existing customer scenarios, the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver 2004 and the existing functions are still available.
An upgrade process is provided that makes the relevant objects (workbooks and queries) for the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver '04 or earlier SAP BW releases available to the new version of the BEx Analyzer.
From the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0, you can access InfoProviders, queries, and query views; however, you cannot access query views created with the BEx Web Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0. On the other hand, you can access query views created with the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 from the BEx Web Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0.
We recommend that you do not use any queries and query views from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 in BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver '04.
With the BEx Analyzer, objects (workbooks and queries) are converted when existing objects from SAP NetWeaver '04 or earlier SAP BW releases are opened in the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0.
Standard workbooks from SAP NetWeaver '04 and earlier SAP BW releases are automatically converted. Workbooks with customer-specific code enhancements are converted according to the most appropriate method. Manual adjustments may be necessary to ensure the workbooks perform correctly. For example, customer-specific enhancements must be adapted manually with Visual Basic.
Once the workbooks are saved with the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0, you cannot use them in the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver ’04 and they no longer appear in the open dialog.
After migration, the original version of the workbook is still available in the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver ‘04. You can migrate as often as you want since the workbooks are not deleted.
Newly created workbooks can no longer be edited with the BEx Analyzer from SAP NetWeaver ‘04.
