Process documentation Creating a BI iView  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

In this example, you create an analytical application that addresses the business question "What are the top three and bottom three materials ordered?" You use the BI Integration Wizard to generate the query upon your SAP BI system, and you display this information as an interactive chart in an iView.

Prerequisites

You have access to an SAP BI system (BW system 3.1C or higher), and it is configured to connect via the BI XMLA Connector in the portal landscape. See Defining Portal Systems and Aliases in the SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer Installation & Configuration Guide.

The necessary demo content is activated in the system. This example is based on the InfoCube SAP Demo Sales and Distribution: Overview, query Order and sales values (technical name: 0D_SD_C03/0D_SD_C03_Q009).

You have been mapped to a user of this BI system.

Process Flow

You build the iView in three stages:

Use the BI Integration Wizard to walk you through generating your query: Creating the Query

Enhance the query result by creating a chart to display the results: Creating and Configuring the Chart

Fine-tune the iView layout and deploy the model: Fine-Tuning and Deployment

Result

In this example, you learn to perform a number of basic tasks of Visual Composer, including:

Select an XMLA-configured SAP BI data service based on an SAP demo cube using the BI integration wizard

Use the BI Integration Wizard to configure the Top N template using values from your data service

Preview the result in the wizard and in the workspace

Switch the table view to a column chart view

Map the fields for display in the chart

     Deploy to Adobe Flash format
