XML Documents Area
In the XML Documents area you can create, edit, translate, and manage training material for classroom training in XML format.
You can publish this material in different formats, for example, in PDF or HTML.
To edit and publish XML-based info objects you need to have the editor, Epic Editor, from the company Arbortext installed on your computer. This editor is integrated into the SAP KW infrastructure the same as Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Visio are.
You also have to install the SAP Course Application, which provides relevant data to enable SAPKW and Arbortext Epic Editor to work together.
All the SAP KW functions for editing, translating, and managing contents is also provided for the XML Documents area.
The special SAP KW functions and objects for the XML Documents area cover:
· Content model for the XML Documents area (XML_TRAIN)
· Functions for creating and editing XML-based info objects.
Authors can edit info objects in the Knowledge Workbench. Existing files can be checked into SAP KW.
· Content templates for the three info object classes classified as learning objects – course, lesson, and exercise. You can create training courses from these three fundamental modules. Alternatively, you can modify the SAP templates to suit your own requirements.
· Document type definition (DTD) that specifies the structure of training material and allows you to organize the XML-based contents didactically. The DTD called SAP Course DTD is part of the SAP Course Application.
· SAP KW-specific menu in the Arbortext Epic Editor, which allows access to the KW functions.
· SAP-specific F1 help for XML tags in Arbortext Epic Editor. This help explains how to use XML tags in the SAP course DTD.
· SAP-specific help for use in the Arbortext Epic Editor. This help explains how training courses from the XML documents area are edited with the Epic Editor.
Arbortext Epic Editor is only integrated with the Knowledge Workbench. XML-based info objects cannot be created or edited in the SAP GUI (online editing).
With SAP KW Release 6.0 XML documents are published on the local PC. The SAP-KW backend system arranges the files and transfers them to the local PC in a write-protect format ready for the publishing process. You end the process using the Epic Editor, which is started on the local PC.
