CAF Guided Procedures at Runtime
The runtime of Guided Procedures (GP) is mainly designed for process contributors – that is, those end users who have the appropriate process roles assigned and contribute to the completion of process instances by performing process tasks. For more information on the different process roles – standard process roles and customizable roles – see Process Roles.
At runtime, you have the option to:
· Start or initiate processes.
Initiation makes the processes created in the GP design time also available at runtime. In the initiation phase, you specify the process owners and contributors and, if necessary, context parameters. The process steps or tasks are now available for processing by the process contributors.
· Create and start simple processes in the GP User design time – see Personal Templates.
· Run process instances or process the tasks.
· Oversee the progress of all processes and tasks to which you contribute.
To be able to work in the GP runtime, you need the GP role GP User. For more information, see Portal Roles.
In general, Guided Procedures can be subdivided into the following components:
· Runtime
· Design time
The design time provides functions to create actions, process templates, and interactive forms. For more information, see Getting Started with Guided Procedures Design Time and Process Modeling.
· Administration and monitoring environment
The
administration environment allows you to manage essential components of the
Guided Procedures framework, such as GP objects (transports, locks), the email
server, interactive forms, and the connectivity to SAP Systems. The monitoring
environment provides high-end monitoring functions. For more information, see
the Technical Operations Manual (TOM)
for SAP NetWeaver
under
Guided
Procedures.
The GP work center is the central point of entry to all available process instances and their associated tasks and provides a comprehensive overview. For more information, see GP Work Center.
In the process instance, you process the tasks assigned to you. For more information, see Process Instance.
The elements and functions of the Guided Procedures runtime can be subdivided into the following categories:
