User Management 

Purpose

The User Management Engine (UME) used by the portal platform runs as a service in the J2EE Engine of the SAP Web AS Java and is defined as the default user store of the J2EE Engine.

All tasks that are relevant to user management and role assignments in the portal platform are performed by the user administrator with the user management user interface (see Identity Management) in the portal environment .

The following administration functions and features are specific to the portal:

Feature	Description
Configuring Delegated User Administration Using Companies	Information about how to use companies to define a form of delegated user administration in the portal.
UME Actions in the Portal	A brief description of how UME actions are integrated in the portal.
Assigning Roles to Users and Groups	Roles are managed by the Portal Content Directory (PCD). For detailed information on the pre-configured administration roles, see Pre-Configured Roles.
User Mapping	Relevant for single sign-on.
