Publishing XML-Based Documents 

Use

You can publish complete courses or individual lessons or exercises in a range of formats.

 

Prerequisites

In the XML Documents area of SAP KW you have created XML info objects based on the SAP Course DTD.

You are in the Knowledge Workbench.

 

Procedure

       1.      Select the info object you want to publish.

       2.      Choose Info Object ®Publish Info Object. A new dialog box is displayed.

       3.      Select either Publish for Printing (PDF) or Publish for the Web (HTML).

       4.      Enter the directory on your hard drive where you want to store the documents to be published.

       5.      Specify whether you want to Include Dependent Objects (graphics or other XML objects inserted with include-type links) with this document.

       6.      Confirm your entries.

SAP KW now composes the document to be published from the individual info objects and transfers the relevant files in a write-protect format on to the directory on your hard drive you specified above. When this process is completed the entire document is displayed in the Arbortext Epic Editor.

       7.      In the Arbortext Epic Editor choose File ® Compose, and select the publishing format you want. For more information about the publishing options see the Arbortext Epic Editor help documentation.

 

Result

You have now created a PDF, HTML or CHM version of your document in the directory you chose on your hard drive.

 

Example

You can publish a training course containing all the lessons and exercises.

You can publish a single lesson without its associated exercises, for example, if you wanted to proof-read the lesson.
