Developing, Configuring and Adapting
Applications
This scenario shows you how you as a power user take part in creating composite applications using the Composite Application Framework (CAF) in SAP NetWeaver.
As a power user, you implement the process-level tasks of the scenario, such as designing and modeling the business processes. Your role is of a business expert, and therefore you are not required to have technical knowledge for the systems used by the composite application. You are supported by a developer for the implementation of the technical aspects of the scenario.
You
need the relevant authorizations to model processes in Guided Procedures. For
more information, see
Portal
Roles.

Description |
Designing Business Processes |
You can design and analyze your business process using ARIS for SAP NetWeaver. For more information about ARIS, see SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/netweaver ® SAP NetWeaver in Detail ® Process Integration ® Business Process Management ® IDS Sheer Partnership. |
Modeling Processes in Guided Procedures |
You implement the business process model that you have designed using the Design Time toolset of Guided Procedures. You can apply top-down or bottom-up approach to create your process template. You build the process using blocks. The functions that are executed in each process step are available in GP as callable objects and are encapsulated into actions. You can also adapt existing process templates and reuse blocks and actions that have already been created. For more information, see Process Modeling. |
Configuring Process Authorizations |
At design time, you configure roles for processing the actions that you include in your process. You do not assign particular users to each role, but define the overall scope of the role – for example, you can configure a single role for several actions that must be executed by the same user(s). For more information, see Process Roles. |
Starting a Process |
Once you have designed a process template, you can initiate a new process using the Guided Procedures runtime tools. For more information, see Starting (Initiating) a New Process. |
The implementation of the scenario also involves the development of the composite application elements. These aspects of the implementation are relevant for developers, and are thereby part of the Developer Guide.
