Function documentation Checking Out Information Objects  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

As well as checking out information objects automatically through editing them, you can check them out without editing them immediately.

This function is useful for work scheduling.

When they are checked out, information objects are stored on the PC so that they can access all objects having the same context.

The following context parameters are used in local storage:

·        Language

·        Release

·        User

·        Processing mode

·        SAP system from which the information objects were checked out

The context is enhanced by these attributes to define a local worklist on the PC.

Note

You cannot access information objects that have been

·         checked out by different users

·         checked out in different processing modes

·         checked out in different SAP systems.

Information objects checked out of different folders are stored in the same local context (work package) if they have its attributes.

In the Knowledge Warehouse you can access all information objects of one local context at the same time. Information objects can only be edited by the user who checked them out.

Integration

When you check information objects back in, the SAP system and user must be the same as in the local context.

Prerequisites

You are in the initial screen and want to check out information objects for offline editing on the PC.

The information objects are not currently checked out changeably by another user.

Features

Information objects can be checked out as changeable or for viewing only

·        Information objects that are checked out changeably can be edited. Other users cannot change them. But they can display these objects and link to them.

·        Information objects that are checked out for viewing only can be displayed, but not changed.

You can check out a selection of information objects, or all information objects that belong to a structure (only in the Structure Editor)
