Viewing logs and traces on a J2EE Engine which is running on your local host or on a remote host

Use the Integrated Log Viewer in the Visual Administrator. For more information, see Integrated Log Viewer.

Viewing logs and traces on a J2EE Engine which is not running on your local host or on a remote host

Use the Standalone Log Viewer. First start the Standalone Log Viewer server on your local host or on the remote host respectively. Then start the Log Viewer client on your local host and connect to the remote server using the NI protocol. For more information, see Standalone Log Viewer.

Converting list formatted logs and traces to human readable format

Use the Command Line Log Viewer. For more information, see Command Line Log Viewer.

Viewing log and trace records that meet specific criteria on a particular server or on multiple servers

Use the search, filter, and merge functions of the Integrated and the Standalone Log Viewer. For more information, see Searching Log Records, Filtering Log Records, and Merging Logs.
