Functions

The ODS object is displayed in the upper table. If you got to the administration screen from the Scheduler or the Monitor, you only have to make one selection from the several ODS objects on display.

From the top toolbar, choose Contents to display the contents of the table for the active data in the ODS object you have selected. Change Update Rules brings you to the maintenance screen for the update rules. With Delete Contents, you can delete the contents of the ODS object. You can also display an application log and a process overview.

Tab Page: Contents

You can display the change log table or you can display the content of the newly loaded data table (activation queue), or that of the active data (A table). You can also selectively delete requests from the ODS object.

See ODS Object Content.

Tab Page: Requests

This tab page gives you information on all the requests that have been run in the ODS object. You can also delete requests here or schedule when they are to be updated.

Refer to Requests in an ODS Object.

Tab Page: Reorganization

Use this function to fill an ODS object with requests that have already been loaded into a BW system, or into another ODS object.

Refer to Restructuring ODS Objects.

Automatic Subsequent Processing

If you want to use an ODS object as a data source for another ODS object or InfoCube, you have to make sure that the data is of good quality, and that it is active in the system.

If you choose the main menu path Environment ® Automatic Request Processing, the system automatically sets the quality status to OK after the data has been loaded into the ODS object. This option must be switched on. There is also the option of activating and updating ODS data automatically. Here, data that has been given the quality status OK is transferred from the activation queue into the active data table, and the change log is updated. The data is then updated into the connected data targets.

These settings are also available when you are creating ODS objects. See the detailed description under Creating ODS Objects.

Note

Only activate automatic activation and updating if you can ensure that these processes do not overlap. See also Locking Logic of Processes.

Recommendation

To ensure that the various processes do not lock each other out, we recommend that you use process chains. Also refer to the example for Including an ODS Object in a Process Chain.

Delete Change Log Data

You can delete data from the Change Log. In the main menu, choose Environment ® Delete Change Log Data.Proceed further as in Deleting Requests from the PSA.

You can find additional information about deleting from the Change Log under Deleting from the Change Log.
