Use

When you display a query on the Web, the query is embedded automatically into a standard Web template for ad-hoc analysis. The query is first displayed on the Web in a table with a navigation block. Furthermore, the name of the query appears as the title, along with the timeliness of the query data. Using the standard, preset tab pages, you can find the most-common functions and views that you need for ad-hoc analysis. In the tabular view on the Data Analysis tab page, the navigation options in the navigation block and in the context menu are available to you.

Integration

You can call the standard Web template for ad-hoc analysis that is based on an existing query or an existing view from multiple BEx tools.

Ad-hoc Query Designer

If you do not specify the optional attributes DISPLAY_DATA_PROVIDER, TARGET_FRAME and TARGET_TEMPLATE_ID, the query results are displayed in a new browser window in the standard Web template for ad-hoc analysis (see also Ad-hoc Query Designer).

From a technical viewpoint, the standard Web template for ad-hoc analysis is based on the template 0ADHOC. This template is set to be the default for ad-hoc analysis in the SAP Reference IMG under SAP NetWeaver ® SAP Business Information Warehouse ®Reporting-relevant Settings ® BEx Web ® Setting Standard Web Templates. The standard Web template includes the various tab pages with the appropriate view-specific application toolbar and Web items, URLs, and Javascript functions. It consists of several Web templates (see also Web Template). You can copy this Web template, make changes to the basic template, and then, in the IMG, set this as your new standard Web template for ad-hoc analysis.   You should not make changes in the original standard Web template or in any of the Web templates included in the standard Web template.

Note

If you want to use the standard Web template (0Query_Template) from Release SAP BW 3.0 for ad-hoc analysis, you can set it using the path described in the SAP Reference IMG above.

Features

The individual functions of the standard Web template for ad-hoc analysis correspond for the most part to the functions of the BEx Web Analyzer. In this way, you can analyze data ad-hoc from the various views (tabular or graphic), you can request information on the selected data provider (query or view) and you can call the BEx Broadcaster. In the tabular view you can also use navigation in the navigation block and the functions of the context menu.

Note

In contrast to the BEX Web Analyzer, you can not open another query or another query view in the standard Web template for ad-hoc analysis, nor can you define or change queries with the Ad-hoc Query Designer.

For more information about the individual functions of standard Web templates for ad-hoc analysis, see BEx Web Analyzer.
