Use

Each view in the iView (for example, form view or table view) has its own container. You can apply a distinct container style to each. You can determine whether or not the view displays a title bar, and add title text to it as well. Additionally, you can specify the view behavior, for example, whether a view displays scroll bars and/or navigation icons, or radio buttons enabling selection of a row in a table view.

Note

All of the properties defined graphically using the Designer task panel can also be defined in the Display set of properties in the Define Properties list. You display this list by choosing Model ® Define Properties (or clicking the Define Properties button in the task panel toolbar).

 

Procedure

       1.      In the Layout workspace, choose Model ® Design the Views.

       2.      Select the view you want to customize and then click the Container tab in the Designer task panel. The layout options displayed in the task panel are as follows:

Container Style

Defines the design and layout of the selected view.

Click a Container Style option, and the selected style is automatically applied to the selected view.

Grid Rows

Available when a table view is selected.

Defines the look of the rows of the table.

Chart Type

Available when a Chart view is selected.

Defines the type and sub-type of the displayed chart.

Titlebar

Determines whether or not the view displays a title bar. If selected, use the Title field to enter the title text.

Toolbar

Determines whether or not the view displays a toolbar.

To add toolbar buttons, in the Layout workspace, double-click the toolbar (or right-click and choose Customize Toolbar from the context menu) to display the Customize Toolbar/Menubar dialog box. Then, define the toolbar controls.

Scrollbars

Determines whether or not the view displays vertical scroll bars, when needed.

Editable

Determines whether the all the fields of the view are editable or read only. Note, however, that specific field definitions overwrite the view definition.

For example, although the view is defined as editable, if a field it contains is defined as disabled, the field remains disabled.

Selectable

Available when a table view is selected. It determines whether or not radio buttons are displayed beside each row in the table, enabling a user to select a row at runtime.

Navigable

Determines whether or not the view displays standard navigation buttons, for example: Next, Previous, First or Last.

Title

Defines the text displayed in the title bar of the selected view.

Records

Available when a table view is selected. It determines the number of rows displayed in the table at one time.

URL

Available when an HTML view is selected. It defines what is retrieved and displayed in the HTML view.

Legend Position

Available when a Chart view is selected. Determines the position of the chart legend. Click in the field to select an option from the context menu. North, South, East and West correspond to top, bottom, right and left respectively.

Color Scheme

Available when a Chart view is selected. Click in the field to select a color scheme from the context menu.
