Calling Content from SAP BW in the Enterprise
Portal
Which types of content from SAP BW can be displayed is explained under Display of Content from SAP BW in the Enterprise Portal. The following sections describe the various options that can be offered to a user for calling and using this content.
You can call the content from SAP BW using Portal roles or the KM folder.
A special feature of a KM folder is the BEx Portfolio: Calling from the BEx Portfolio.
When Portal roles are used, navigation using the initial navigation bar and detailed navigation is carried out. In contrast to this, navigation with KM folders or the BEx Portfolio takes place via the content area of the Portal desktop.
The Enterprise Portal offers a variety of options for communicating and collaborating with other Portal users:
In Collaboration Rooms, groups of users can
exchange context-related applications and information. Content from SAP BW can
be included in these as well. For more information, see
Working with
Rooms.
Discussions
enable an
exchange of ideas about a specific topic using a document in Knowledge
Management. Using BEx Information Broadcasting, you can store BEx Web
Applications as precalculated documents or links in Knowledge Management. You
can have discussions based on these documents and links. For more information,
see
Working
with Discussions.
In addition
to collaboration, Knowledge Management offers various functions for working
with documents. You can add Ratings, Evaluations, Feedback and/or Personal Notes to documents. For more
information, see
Functions for Objects
in KM Folders
Subscriptions
have an
especially interesting significance for precalculated documents that are
automatically generated with BEx Information Broadcasting. Using subscription,
users can ensure that they are automatically informed about every change (for
example due to a new precalculation). For more information, see
Notifications for KM
Folders in the Central Worklist and
Subscriptions.
The Business Explorer Portal Role (com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase) clarifies the options for working with documents and links in Knowledge Management. For more information, see Business Explorer Portal Role.
