Background documentation Preconfigured Data Source Combinations  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

User Management Engine (UME) provides ‘template configurations’ that define a configuration for standard scenarios for dealing with user management data. These template configurations are XML files referred to as data source configuration files. When you choose a user management configuration during installation, the installation routine automatically chooses the correct data source configuration file. If you change the data sources manually after installation, you have to specify your required data source configuration file in the UME property ume.persistence.data_source_configuration.

In the following section, you can find an overview of the available data source configuration files. Under the section dealing with a particular data source, for example LDAP directory, you can find a description of all configuration files that use an LDAP directory as the main data source. There are three main data sources:

·        Database Only as Data Source

·        LDAP Directory as Data Source

·        SAP Web AS ABAP User Management as Data Source

Note

You can find most of the configuration files using the Config Tool as described in Editing UME Configuration Files. For LDAP directories that have only recently been certified, you can get the configuration files from the LDAP directory vendor directly.

When deciding which data source combination is suitable for your installation, you need to take into account how your installation fits into your entire system landscape. For recommendations on setting up user management in your system landscape, see Integration of User Management in Your System Landscape.
