Management of the SAP Web
Dispatcher
This documentation describes how to configure and administrate the SAP Web dispatcher.
For information on
the architecture and functions of the SAP Web Dispatcher see
Architecture of the
SAP Web Dispatcher.
For information on
monitoring and error searching see
Monitoring the SAP Web
Dispatcher.
This documentation deals with the following functions:
Operating the SAP Web Dispatcher describes how you install, start, and stop the SAP Web Dispatcher. Here you will also find the prerequisites for operating the SAP Web Dispatcher.
SAP Web Dispatcher Profile Parameters describes the profile parameters for configuring the SAP Web dispatcher. The settings should be appropriate for normal operation.

When you set the maximum values,
note that unnecessarily large values can increase the
Memory Requirement of
the SAP Web Dispatchers.

You can find an example of a SAP Web Dispatcher’s profile file in Example Profile File of the SAP Web Dispatcher.
Configuring the SAP Web Dispatcher / Message Server for Virtual Hosts explains how you have to configure the SAP Web dispatcher for compliance with virtual hosts.
You can make the exchange of metadata with the message server and application servers secure by encrypting the data with SSL. For information see Meta Data Exchange Using SSL.
Configuring SAP Web
Dispatcher / Message Server for Virtual Hosts explains what you have to
configure in the Web dispatcher or message server so you can use
Virtual
Hosts.
You can also send operating system signals to the SAP Web Dispatcher. This can be useful if you want to execute functions in shell script. The SAP Web Dispatcher knows the same signals as the Internet Communication Manager (ICM). For details see Using Signals to Control the ICM.
You can configure the behavior of the SAP Web Dispatcher when responding to errors. For details see Error Handling in the SAP Web Dispatcher.
The SAP Web dispatcher can handle HTTPS requests in different ways:
· End-to-End SSL
· Decrypt them and forwards them unencrypted
· Decrypt and encrypt them again
These options are described in
SAP Web Dispatcher and
SSL.
To find out how to make the SAP Web
Dispatcher a high availability solution see
Architecture of the
SAP Web Dispatcher.
You can use the Web administration
interface to administrate, monitor, and set traces in, the SAP Web Dispatcher.
The process is described in the section
Monitoring the SAP Web
Dispatcher.
