Procedure documentation Saving Query Variants Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

A query variant is a query for which the variable values have already been selected. You can also use the variants for opening the query in the online display and for background processing.

Prerequisites

You have defined a query that contains at least one variable that is ready for input.

Procedure

...

       1.      Open the query with the variables that are ready for input.

       2.      You get to the dialog window for entering variables. Select a variable value.

       3.      From the dialog box toolbar, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Save as Variant). A new dialog box appears.

       4.      Enter a name and a short description (Description) for the variant. Choose whether

¡        The variants only need to be used for the background processing (then the variant is no longer available for the online display)

¡        You want to protect the variants (then you can only change the variants)

¡        The variants only need to be displayed in the catalog

Note

Hierarchy node variables always have two entries; the hierarchy node name and the hierarchy characteristic (for example, 0HIERNODE for text nodes).

       5.      Save your entries.

Result

The query variant can now be

·        called up when you next open the query

Note

You can call up a created variant for a query using the dialog box for the entry of variables (see step two in the above procedure):

·         Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Get Variant). You arrive at a dialog box in which you see the list of saved variants for this query.

·         Select a variant from the list and execute it.

·        Assigned to a setting for background printing or exception reporting in background processing.

Deleting Query Variants

       1.      In order to delete a variant created for a query, go to the dialog box for the entry of variables and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Delete Variant).This brings you to the Delete Variant dialog box.

Note

The symbol This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (Delete Variant)is only visible in the dialog box for the entry of variables if you have created at least one variant for the query.

       2.      Select the variant that you want to delete. You arrive at a new dialog box in which you decide if the variant needs to be deleted in all clients or only in the current client.

       3.      Confirm your selection and delete the variant.
