Use

You can formulate conditions to make data analysis more efficient. In the Web application, the data is restricted in accordance with the conditions so that only the part of the results area in which you are interested is displayed.

You can find additional information about the scope of functions for conditions under Conditions.

Prerequisites

You have called up the conditions function to change or define a condition.

·        In the Web item List of Conditions.

·        In the Web item Ad-hoc Query Designer

·        In the Standard Web Template for Ad-hoc Analysis or in the BEx Web Analyzer

Procedure

Defining Conditions

...

       1.      Specify a description for the condition in the Description field.

       2.      If you want to just define the condition, and do not want to execute it in the Web application, remove the check from the Active checkbox that is there by default.

       3.      You have the following options under Evaluation of Conditions Below for:

-         If the condition lines below are to be evaluated independent of one another for all of the characteristics in the drilldown and you want to use the same condition for multiple characteristics of the query, select Evaluate Conditions Below for All Characteristics in the Drilldown Independently.

This setting allows you to apply a condition in a very general way. Depending on which characteristics you use in the drilldown, you will obtain varying results.

You can find more information under Ranked List Condition: Top 5 Products and Ranked List Condition for All Characteristics in Drilldown Independent: Top 3 Products and Top 3 Sales Channels.

-         If you want to evaluate the condition for certain drilldowns of defined characteristics or characteristic combinations, choose Evaluate the Conditions Below for Single Characteristics or Combinations of Characteristics. You can then make entries in the list of characteristics used in the queries in rows, columns, or free characteristics.

¡        If you only want to evaluate the condition when a certain characteristic is present in the drilldown, select this characteristic.

¡        If you want to evaluate the condition for characteristic combinations, select multiple characteristics.  You can find more information under Ranked List Condition for Characteristic Combination: Top 3 Combinations of Product and Sales Channel.

       4.      In the Present All Values for which at Least One of the Following Conditions is Valid area, specify the values that should satisfy the condition. A condition row is always derived from the determination of a key figure or structure used in the query, an operator, and a value that matches the operator.

a.       Make a check in the checkbox.

b.       In the dropdown box select the key figure or structure.

c.       Select the operator from the second dropdown box.

For the following operators use both input fields for entering a "from" and "to" value:

-         [ ] for entering values that lay within an interval

-         ] [ for entering values outside an interval

For the remaining settings, enter the value in the first input field:
