Component documentation Navigating the Portal Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

Portal navigation enables you to access information relevant to your work functions. Knowing how to navigate between and within folders saves time and enhances your productivity.

The structure of your portal is hierarchical. The portal content provided by your administrator is organized into role-based worksets and folders. Folders may contain subfolders, as well as links that launch individual pages or iViews. You access the worksets and folders using tabs in the top-level navigation bar and links in the detailed navigation area of the navigation panel.

Integration

Actual data retrieval is performed by various types of iViews. Some iViews access Internet sources, while others access structured databases within the organization. Still others use company data to retrieve related information from the Internet.

Navigation within the portal consists of:

·        Top-level navigation; see Header Area

·        Detailed Navigation

·        Dynamic Navigation

·        Drag&Relate Targets Navigation

·        Related Links

·        Page Title Bar navigation; allows quick navigation to recently visited pages, and contains a menu of various page-specific options

·        Workset Map iView; provides an overview, with links, to the contents of a workset

·        Portal Favorites iView; stores links to portal pages and single iViews that run like pages, as well as to various Knowledge Management elements

·        Navigating with Hotkeys
