Logging On to / Off the Portal
To access your portal, you need to log on using the correct credentials.
· Users can log on to the portal from any client machine, using the user name and password they use to access the company network, as defined in the corporate server. Contact your administrator if you have any problems or questions.
· If your administrator has set up your portal accordingly, you can log on using a client certificate. The first time you log on to the portal, you need to map your client certificate to your user ID, unless the administrator has already mapped the certificate for you.
· To access the portal through a dial-up connection requires the relevant URL for logging on.
The portal provides user interface support for users who need to work with a screen reader. You enable these user interface features by setting a flag in the User Registration form (see New User Registration below). For information about the features and activating the flag, see Accessibility.

2. In the browser Address field, enter the URL to access SAP NetWeaver Portal, using the following format:
http:// fully qualified portal server and domain name:http port of SAP J2EE /irj/
For example, if the Web server is located on port 1000 of a computer that is identified as pluto on the network, type the following address:

If you are working with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), the portal URL begins with https instead of http, and indicates the IIS secured port as follows:
https:// fully qualified portal server and domain name: https secured port of SAP J2EE /irj/
3. Press ENTER. One of the following scenarios occurs:
¡ If your portal is not configured to support anonymous users (default setting), the Welcome screen opens, displaying the Logon screen, a link to SAP support services, and a link to the user registration form. See below for details.
¡ If your portal is configured to support anonymous users, pressing ENTER opens a portal that displays content approved for anonymous users.
To access your content as an authenticated user, click the Log On link in the masthead to display the Welcome screen.
4. In the Logon dialog of the Welcomescreen, enter your User Name and Password.
5. Click Log on, and wait for the portal components to load.
When your portal opens, you see the content defined for the roles that were assigned to you.
If you have problems logging on to the portal, click Get Support. In the displayed dialog box, you can request help for resetting passwords, and other logon problems.
Users who wish to log on to the portal, but do not yet have a portal user ID and password, can register as new users by clicking the Register Now link in the Welcome screen.
You can also use this link to create your user profile. For information about user profiles, see Personalizing your Portal.
To register:
1. Click Register Now.
2. Fill out the Welcome to User Registration form.
3. Click Submit.
You can later update the profile. For more information, see Setting Portal Preferences.
If you want to end your portal session, we recommend that you log off, and not simply close your browser. Closing the browser leaves the portal still working, until it times out.

When working in a browser that supports multiple tabs, such as Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox, if you close a tab in which a portal is running, the portal session is saved. If you then open the portal in a new tab, you are already logged on and need to first log off if you wish to log on with different credentials.
To log off the portal, click Log Off in the masthead and choose Yes in the confirmation dialog box. The portal closes and redirects you to either the portal Logon dialog box or an external page that was associated to the portal.

If you are in the portal as an anonymous user, you do not see a Log Offlink in the masthead. In such a case, to terminate your portal session, close the browser.
