Function documentation Displaying Exceptions: Alert Monitor Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

The Alert Monitor lists and displays exceptions containing values outside the specified threshold values.

Integration

Exceptions are displayed both in the BEx Analyzer and the Reporting Agent Scheduler of the Administrator Workbench. In addition, you can display exceptions as alert monitors in a Web application (see Alert Monitors).

Prerequisites

You have defined one or more exceptions (see Defining Exceptions) and chosen the follow-up action Alert Monitor for background processing in the Reporting Agent of the Administrator Workbench (see Structure linkDefining Exceptions Settings).

Features

Exceptions triggered by the follow-up action Alert Monitor are recorded in the exception log. They are displayed in the alert monitor in the corresponding query views, the drilldowns examined in the background run.

Query views are named according to:

·        the characteristic values of the characteristics in the filter

·        the name of the characteristic in the drilldown

In order to get information on the key figure and navigate further from there you can jump straight to a query view from the alert monitor.

Caution

Note that data for this query view is taken from the current dataset. The exceptions that appear in the alert monitor however, refer to the data status that was valid at the time of the last batch run. The number of exceptions in the alert monitor may therefore be different to the number of exceptions in the query view.

Note that in some cases query view data cannot be displayed. In the Reporting Agent your administrator has specified him-/herself as the person who receives alerts (see Structure linkEditing Follow-Up Actions: Alert Monitor Entry). Therefore a particular alert monitor entry is visible for them.  It is possible, however, that when they jump to the corresponding query view, they are not able to see any data. A data authorization check occurs when displaying data and it is possible that they do not have the authorization to see the detailed data for the alert.

Display in Web applications

With the help of the Web item Alert Monitor, you can go into the query views specified in the exception reporting. The Web item attributes enable you to set the alert monitor to your requirements. Among other things, you can determine whether you want to filter according the entries that lie within a specific InfoArea, InfoCube, or query. Furthermore, you can display the query views as a list or hierarchically.

BEx Analyzer display

Exceptions are listed in the BEx Analyzer from InfoArea level through to the individual query views.

Reporting Agent Scheduler display

The alert monitor is displayed in the Reporting Agent from InfoArea level through to the exceptions level. The number of red, yellow and green alerts is listed for each exception.
