Using Conditions
You can define several conditions for a query. With display in Web applications (including the BEx Web Analyzer) or in the BEx Analyzer, you can activate or deactivate conditions to generate different views of the data.
You can display the descriptions of conditions for a query.
· BEx Web applications:
The existing conditions of a query view together with their associated statuses are displayed in the Web Item List of Conditions.
You can also get to this function from the Standard Web Template for Ad-hoc Analysis and from the BEx Web Analyzer under the Data Analysis tab page using the Exceptions and Conditions pushbutton.
· BEx Analyzer:
In the BEx symbol bar, choose Layout ® Display Conditions. The existing conditions for a query are displayed with their statuses as text elements via the results area.
If you have set a condition to active in the definition, then the status active appears next to the description of the condition. If you have defined several conditions for a query, there may be conflicting conditions that refer to the same characteristics. In this case, certain rules of priority apply. Generally the most specific condition applies when there are conflicts.

One condition defines the Top 5 Sales for the characteristic Customer, and a second condition defines the Bottom 3 Sales in the customer-product combination.
If only the characteristic Customer is in the drilldown, only the first condition applies. So, only the condition Top 5 Sales is used for the characteristic Customer.
If Customer and Product are in the drilldown at the same time, you can use both conditions according to their definitions. In this case, the second condition applies since it is more specific due to its reference to the characteristic combination.
If a condition cannot be used in a query, the following status descriptions can appear in the display:
· cannot be applied
The condition refers to, for example
- a characteristic that has not been drilled down
- a characteristic combination and the two characteristics are not drilled down next to each other on an axis
- a characteristic combination and an involved characteristic is not drilled down
- a characteristic combination and the axis has a hierarchical display, while the condition is a ranked list
- a characteristic that is drilled down with an active presentation hierarchy, while the condition is a ranked list (see Conditions in Combination with Hierarchies)
· not used
The condition refers to a characteristic that is already being used in another active condition. There is a collision. Only when you deactivate the other condition does this condition come into effect. The status appears as active in the display.

Condition 1: Customers: Top 3 or bottom 5 sales volumes
Condition 2: Customers and products: Purchase order value > 50,000
If the characteristics Customers and Products have been drilled down and condition 2 is active, then condition 1 automatically has the status not used. If you deactivate condition 2, condition 1 is automatically activated. If you activate condition 1, condition 2 is automatically not used.
BEx Web applications:
You can activate or
deactivate the conditions using the symbol
in the Web item List of
Conditions.
BEx Analyzer:
If you have displayed conditions in the BEx Analyzer as text elements, you can then activate or deactivate them by double-clicking on the status description active or inactive.
Alternatively, choose Activate condition or Deactivate condition from the context menu (secondary mouse button on the status description).
If you call the context menu for the results area (secondary mouse click in the results area), you have a further option of activating/deactivating the conditions there under Conditions.
