Use

You can set a range of functions in the Characteristic Properties dialog box for a specific characteristic, such as order type. These settings then affect all key figures for this characteristic in a query drilldown.

Features

The Query Properties dialog box is divided into three tab pages, each covering different settings.

Tab Page: General

The settings that you can make here are identical to those in the Characteristic Properties dialog in the Query Designer. See Properties for a Characteristic

Tab Page: Presentation Hierarchy

You can present the characteristic hierarchically.

In the Hierarchy Name field, select the hierarchy required for this characteristic. When you click in the field, a dropdown box appears with all of the hierarchies that are available for this characteristic. Choose a hierarchy from the list.

The hierarchy is displayed in the Hierarchy Name field. The technical name of the hierarchy is displayed below it.

Select the Active checkbox to display the characteristic with the selected hierarchy in the query.

When you deactivate the Active selection box, the characteristic is displayed in the query not as a hierarchy but as a basic list.

When you have selected a hierarchy, you see the following options for the hierarchy:

Sorting within the hierarchy

You can set the sorting within the hierarchy according to the Key or Name in Ascending or Descending order.

Select Execute Sort and select the type of sorting and sort direction required.

If you do not make any entries, the values are sorted as determined in the hierarchy.

Hierarchy properties

Each hierarchy has certain properties that you specify in the hierarchy definition. You can override the following hierarchy properties for the current hierarchy:

·        Expansion level

Select Other Level and enter a numerical value to show the hierarchy level to which you want to expand the hierarchy.

·        Position of lower-level nodes

Select Other Position and choose whether the lower-level nodes are positioned above (Down) or below (Up). Choose Up if, for example, you want to see the overall result at the bottom.

·        Display of values of posted nodes

Select Other Setting and choose whether you want to Display or Suppress the values of posted nodes.

In hierarchies, nodes always display the aggregated values of the subordinate nodes and leaves. If a node has a posted value, you cannot see this. To display this posted value, an additional leaf is inserted that has the same name as the node. This leaf displays the value posted to the node.

For more information about this function in the form of an example, see Characteristic Properties.

·        Display nodes with only one lower-level node

Select Other Setting and choose whether you want to Display or Suppress the values of nodes with only one lower-level node. Suppressing nodes with only one lower-level node helps you to reach the more detailed information quickly.

For more information about this function in the form of an example, see Characteristic Properties.

Tab Page: Attributes

Note

This tab page appears only when the characteristic has attributes.

You determine here which attributes you want to display for this characteristic in the query.

In the Display Type dropdown box, select the format in which you want to display the attribute.

You can choose from the following options:

·        (Standard): The standard display type for attribute values corresponds to the setting in InfoObject maintenance under Structure linkTab Page: Business Explorer.

·        No Display: The attribute display is hidden.

·        Key and Text: The attribute values are shown by their technical key and by their text.

·        Text: The attribute values are shown by their text.

·        Key: The attribute values are shown by their technical key.

·        Text and Key: The attribute values are shown by their text, followed by their technical key.

Once you have made a setting in display type that contains text, you can select which text type you want to set in the dropdown box below.

You can choose from the following options:

·        Standard: The shortest available text for the attribute values is used as the text.

·        Short text: The short text for the attribute values is used as the text.

·        Medium Text: The medium text for the attribute values is used as the text.

·        Long text: The long text for the attribute values is used as the text.

Note

In the dropdown box for display type, the system offers the setting options as follows:

§         (Standard), No Display and Key are always offered.

§         Key and Text, Text, Text and Key are offered additionally if any text (short, medium or long) was created in InfoObject maintenance for this attribute.

In the text type dropdown box, the system offers only those texts for selection that were created for this attribute in the InfoObject maintenance. See Structure linkTab Page: Master Data/Texts.

Activities

In the Ad-hoc Query Designer, select the characteristic (from the rows, columns, filter or free characteristics) and from the context menu, choose Properties. You get to the Characteristic Properties dialog box. Make the settings you need and choose Transfer.
