General Settings for Precalculation and the
Creation of Links
If you have selected an HTML file as the output format you can make various settings in the General Precalculation tab page.
If you have selected an online link as the output format, the following settings options are available to you in the General Link Generation tab page.
The BEx Broadcaster only makes the General Precalculation tab page or General Link Generation tab page available when one of the following prerequisites is met:
· You have started the Broadcasting Wizard in a Web application with Distribute in the context menu and then jumped to the BEx Broadcaster, for example to transfer the navigational state of the Web application on this tab page.
· The query or Web application that you wish to distribute contains variables.
· The query or Web application that you wish to distribute contains exceptions.
This function is available to you only when you have started the broadcasting wizard from a Web application (using Distribute in the context menu) and then you jumped to the BEx Broadcaster.
· If the precalculated document or the online link should have the current navigational state of the Web application, choose Transfer. The current navigational state is the state from which you called up the BEx Broadcaster using Distribute in the context menu.
· If the precalculated document or the online link should have the initial navigational state of the Web application, choose Delete. The initial navigational state is the start view when calling the Web application (for example from the Web Application Designer).

From a technical viewpoint, Transfer
Navigational State means that the system generates a bookmark (without
data) and then takes this bookmark into account when it generates the
precalculated documents or the online link. For more information about the
bookmark function, see
Setting Bookmarks
and
Creating
Bookmarks.
Assign here: You can create values for the variables for the query that are ready for input or you can specify the Web application. The query or Web application is then precalculated with these variable values.
Take from Variant: You are able to select an existing variant for the query. The query is precalculated with the values of the variant.

Variable assignment from variants is available for queries and workbooks. For more information about settings on the tab page Workbooks – Precalculation, see Precalculating and Distributing Workbooks.
If you have selected Online Link to Current Data as the output format, the variable assignment is attached to the URL. When the recipient calls up the online link, the query or Web application is started with these variable values.
If the query or Web application contains exceptions, you can specify whether they should be considered during precalculation or during generation of online links.
· No Consideration: The system precalculates the query or Web application or generates an online link whether an alert has occurred or not.
· Only Precalculate at Minimum Alert Level: The query or Web application is only precalculated or distributed as an online link if an exception occurs within it that has a specific minimum alert level or a worse alert level. Specify the desired minimum alert level.
