Component documentation Searching and Displaying User Data Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

An important prerequisite for collaboration in the portal is finding the necessary partners for communication and cooperation and the information about these partners. The following options are available:

·        Searching For Users

¡        User search function

This search function allows you to search for and identify system users (individual users, user groups, or roles). In the area of Knowledge Management and Collaboration, the search function is integrated in all iViews in which you have to search for and assign users.

¡        Who’s Who search function

This search function is provided in a separate iView. It allows you to find users by means of a search query and to display them in a results list with specific information, such as the user ID and the telephone number. The search query in the Who’s Who iView is based on the SAP search engine Search and Classification (TREX).

·        Displaying Users

¡        Displaying user details

The User Details iView displays information on one user at a time and allows you to use collaboration services to communicate directly with the user in question.

¡        Displaying the availability of users

For each user, the system can display a preceding icon indicating that user’s availability status. The availability status icon specifies whether the user is online, for example.

Implementation Considerations

The functions for searching for and displaying users are more or less preconfigured in the SAP standard system, but allow company-specific changes, for example, with regard to the user attributes used. The configuration options are described in this section.
