Business Explorer Portal Role
In SAP Enterprise Portal, the standard portal role Business Explorer provides you with both a central entry point for your business intelligence content from SAP BW, and various tools from the Business Explorer Suite. Furthermore, the Business Explorer portal role clarifies the various options made available to you through Knowledge Management and Collaboration when working with documents in the portal.
Technical name of the portal role: com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase
You, the user, have been assigned the roles by the system administration for the portal.
The Business Explorer role in the portal contains the following subregisters:
The My Portfolio iView is a KM navigation iView with the special layout Broadcasting. It displays your KM folders Personal BEx Documents (/~alias~/userhome/<user.id>/Personal BEx Documents).
For more information on the Broadcasting layout, see Display of Folder Content with the Broadcasting Layout Profile.
The BEx Portfolio iView is a KM navigation iView with the special layout Broadcasting. It displays the KM folder Public Documents (/documents/Public Documents).
Under My Portfolio and BEx Portfolio, various Knowledge Management
functions are available to you for working with your documents. You can add
ratings, evaluations, feedback and/or personal notes to documents. For more
information, see
Functions for Objects
in KM Folders
With the BEx
Web Analyzer you can navigate in queries and analyze data. For more
information, see
BEx Web
Analyzer.

With the BEx Web Analyzer iView, an
SAP BW Report iView is called with
the Web template 0ANALYZER. The Report property has the value template_id=0ANALYZER. For more information,
see
BEx Web
Application or Query as iView in the Enterprise Portal
Using the BEx Broadcaster you can precalculate and distribute Web templates, queries and workbooks. For more information, see Functions of the BEx Broadcaster.

The BEx Broadcaster iView is an SAP BW Report iView in which the command to start the BEx Broadcaster is used.
The Collaborative BI portal page contains iViews from Knowledge Management to display discussions, collaboration rooms and notifications.
Users of the collaboration functions can see the results in these iViews.
In
collaboration rooms, groups of users can exchange context-related applications
and information. Content from SAP BW can be included in these as well. For
more information, see
Working with
Rooms.
Discussionsenable an exchange of ideas about a
specific topic on the basis of a document in Knowledge Management. Users can
hold discussions based on the documents and links that you have stored in
Knowledge Management using BEx Information Broadcasting. For more information,
see
Working
with Discussions.
Using
subscription, users can ensure that they are automatically informed about
every change to a document (for example due to a new precalculation). For more
information, see
Notifications for KM
Folders in the Central Worklist and
Subscriptions.
For more
information about the Collaboration functions, see
User
Guide.

Note that the collaboration functions can only be applied to BEx Web Applications as Documents and Links.
Collaboration can only be implemented with documents and links in Knowledge
Management. Collaboration is not possible with BEx Web Applications as iViews because these
are called directly in the BW system and are not represented in Knowledge
Management as a document or link. For more information, see
Display of Content
from SAP BW in SAP Enterprise Portal.
