As of Release 3.5, BW supports connectivity to a wide variety of diverse data sources with the BI Java Connectors. The BI Java Connectors are a set of four resource adapters that are compliant with the J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA) and may be deployed into SAP NetWeaver’s J2EE Server. The BI Java Connectors are new with BW Release 3.5.
Use the BI Java Connectors together with the BI Java SDK or UD Connect to extract or consume BW or non-BW data.
Connectors are available for both relational and multidimensional (OLAP) data sources.
· BI JDBC Connector
¡ Based on Java Database Connectivity, which is the standard Java API for relational database management systems (RDBMS)
¡ Provides connectivity to over 170 JDBC drivers, supporting data sources such as: Teradata, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, DB2, Microsoft Excel, and text files (CSV)
· BI SAP Query Connector
¡ Based on SAP Query
¡ Provides connectivity to SAP operational applications
· BI ODBO Connector
¡ Based on OLE DB for OLAP, the established industry-standard OLAP API for the Windows platform
¡ Provides connectivity to OLAP data sources such as Microsoft Analysis Services, SAS, and Microsoft PivotTable Services
· BI XMLA Connector
¡ Based on XML for Analysis to provide Web services-based, platform-independent access to OLAP providers
¡ Provides connectivity to OLAP data sources such as Microsoft Analysis Services, Hyperion, MicroStrategy, and BW 3.x
