Use

You can create static display formats for information objects with this function.

There are dynamic and static display formats:

Dynamic

The context (e.g. release, language) in which the information objects should be displayed is defined at runtime from the logon language and the release version of the R/3 System.

The dynamic display formats are displayed in the installed Web Browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape).

The dynamic display formats are created when the information objects are checked in.

Static

The context (e.g. release, language) in which the information objects are displayed is defined in a separate process.

The information objects of only one context are displayed after instantiation.

The following static display formats are supported:

HTML Help
PlainHtml

The display formats are created as defined by the folder to which the information objects are assigned.

Prerequisites

You have installed and configured the services for creating display formats (see SAP Knowledge Warehouse Installation Guidelines).

The following requirements must be satisfied in the R/3 System:

Scheduler must be active.

Background jobs (Analys e , Export) must be ready.

Assignments must be maintained.

Destinations must be maintained.

The following requirements must be satisfied on the NT servers:

NT server must be ready.

At least one export process must be ready.

The information objects for the folder are released.

Recommendation

SAP recommends that you start the consistency checks before creating the display formats. This will find inconsistencies in the folders that could result in errors when the display formats are created.

Correct any inconsistencies that are found.

Functionality

The following functions offer you services for creating display formats:

Navigation between the individual views

Open e xports

Completed e xports

Servers

Jobs

Display of the views as Info Object List with sort and filter functions

Configuration of the individual components in the R/3 System and on the NT servers

Setting of the destinations where the display formats should be created
Number of background jobs
Number of instances per NT server
Setting of the display format to be created
Definition of the consolidation directory

Automatic or manual scheduling of export requests
Monitoring of the process of creating display formats
Check of the results using a log

Activities

You scheduled folders manually or automatically for display format creation.

The Scheduler tries to start the analysis or export for waiting requests.

The following criteria must be satisfied in order to start the analysis:

There is a free analysis background job.
There is a request with Initial status amongst the requests with highest priority.

If there is such a request, the system simulates if the request can be exported. There is a check to see if there is a suitable export process on an NT server that is ready for this request.

The following criteria must be satisfied in order to start the export:

There is a free export background job.

Th e re is a free export process on at least one NT server.

Th e re is a request with status Ready for which there is an assignment to the free export process amongst the requests with highest priority.

The data is stored on the export path of the relevant NT server.

If there is a consolidation path, the results are stored there.

A protocol is written in the application log.
