Configuring the Masthead for
Collaboration
The Collaboration Launch Pad (CLP) allows portal users to manage their contacts and launch services for collaboration. Users use a link in the tool area of the masthead to launch the CLP.
To be able to
launch and use the CLP, configure the following settings in the tool area of
the portal
default framework
page:
● Activate the link for launching the Collaboration Launch Pad in the masthead
● Activate the Real-Time Collaboration (RTC) component with the standard services for real-time collaboration (instant messaging and application sharing)

With RTC, you also activate the Real-Time Messaging Framework (RTMF). In the portal, the RTMF is the technical infrastructure for transferring real-time event between servers and clients.
The Content Administration role is assigned to your user.
1. In the portal, choose Content Administration ® Portal Content.
You reach the Portal Content Studio.
2. In the Portal Catalog, choose Portal Content ® Portal User ® Standard Portal Users.
3. Open the default framework page for editing in the page editor (in the context menu, choose Open ® Object).

If you use variants of the default framework page for different user groups, make sure that the settings are changed in all variants. Otherwise, the corresponding services are not available for all portal users.
4. Select the Tool Area iView and choose Open.
The property editor for the tool area appears.
5. Choose the Show All property category and set the following properties.
Property |
Value |
Enable the Collaboration Launch Pad |
Yes |
Enable Real-Time Collaboration |
Yes |
Cache Validity Period (optional) |
10 seconds
Since the Cache Validity Period for the tool area on the default framework page is set to one hour by default, the CLP is only activated after this period of time. To bypass the waiting time, reduce the cache validity period, for example, to 10 seconds. |
6. Save this change.

The cache validity period affects system performance. If you have reduced the cache validity period as described above, you should re-enter the original value (1 hour) as soon as the link for launching the CLP appears.
The tool area of the portal header contains the Collaboration link. Portal users can use this link to launch the Collaboration Launch Pad and use the assigned services to collaborate with their contacts.
You have activated the Real-Time Collaboration component and thus the services it contains – instant messaging and application sharing.

To use RTC, further settings are necessary:
In the
Configuration of the Synchronous
Collaboration Framework, the service type RTC must be
activated.
RTC must be configured, see Configuring Real-Time Collaboration
