Heatmap (Relational)
The Heatmap template is a relational template that delivers its result in a special heatmap display. With this template, you can build queries that aggregate values of a selected primary group and compare them with values of a secondary group by displaying the results in boxes of differing sizes and colors.
Using heatmaps, a large quantity of results can be organized within boxes in a specifically constrained space, making it easy to compare the major factors within a result set at a glance. Both color intensity (shifting within a gradient) and size of the boxes indicate relative performance, helping you to easily spot trends or standouts in a quick overview.
You should use this template if you would like to address business questions such as the following:
What is the relative distribution of sales among certain divisions and companies?
· You have a relational data service configured as a BI system.
· You have configured the URL to your Internet Graphics Service (IGS), which is required for heatmaps to display properly. To do this:
...
a. From the Visual Composer Tools menu, choose Options.
b. Select the Portal tab.
c. In the Internet Graphics Service (IGS) URL field, enter the URL to your Internet Graphics Service. If you need help determining this suffix, contact your BW System Administrator.

Internet Graphics Service versions 640 and greater are required.
After using the BI Query Wizard to select a relational data service and the Heatmap template, the wizard steps you through the following process flow:
...
5. Configure Heatmap parameters
After you have completed the wizard screens according to the process above and clicked Finish, you return to the Visual Composer workspace, where a new data service has been created with the query you have configured.
A data service created with the BI Query Wizard’s Heatmap template is configured automatically with a start input and a heatmap view as output. These three elements together constitute a complete iView, ready for preview and deployment to your portal.

Heatmaps do not display in the Visual Composer Preview; you will see the default chart from the Internet Graphics Service instead. In order to see your heatmap, you must deploy it to your portal.
