The following example shows a WAP application with the Web items Generic Navigation Block, Table and Chart.

Web Item Paging

Since WAP devices have limited display and memory capabilities, Web items for a WAP application are automatically displayed over several pages, which are linked together via an automatically generated overview page.

In this overview page, the WAP application Web items are displayed as a list of links to separate WML pages.

WAP applications with a WAP-enabled device

Here, you need a WAP-gateway and access via a telecom provider. The WAP-gateway must be in front of the firewall and it must have access to the BW system. Security settings (restrictions to a particular mobile phone) are dependent on the WAP server.

Using WAP emulators

You can use an emulator, such as the emulators for Openwave or Nokia, to quickly become familiar with mobile intelligence in PDA devices.

SAP Note 453142 provides additional information about how to download emulators from the Internet.
