Support Packages and SAP Notes 
SAP ships quality enhancements, program corrections and updates for SAP NetWeaver in Support Packages. You can use the Support Package Manager to import Support Packages into your system.
In addition, SAP ships individual SAP NetWeaver components as Add-Ons. These Add-Ons are updated at more frequent intervals than SAP NetWeaver. Between SAP NetWeaver Releases, you can use the SAP Add-On Installation Tool to import the latest versions of these Add-Ons. SAP also ships other functions, such as industry solutions, as Add-Ons, which you can also import with the Add-On Installation Tool.
Smaller problems are solved by individual corrections in SAP Notes. You use the Note Assistant to implement these SAP Note corrections.
Support Packages, Add-On Installation Packages, and SAP Notes are all available on the SAP Support Portal.
Support Packages are available on the SAP Support Portal at service.sap.com/patches. This section also contains information on the following topics:
· Availability of Support Package stacks. These are collections of Support Packages for a product version, tested by SAP and recommended for import: service.sap.com/sp-stacks.
· Side-effects of Support Packages. You can display a list of SAP Notes that you need to import together with a particular Support Package: service.sap.com/patches ® SAP Support Packages in Detail ® Side-Effects of SAP Notes.

You use the
Support Package
Manager (transaction SPAM) to import Support Packages.

Installation Tool (transaction SAINT) to import Add-On Installation
Packages.
