User Guide
Purpose
The user guide for information broadcasting explains the various options and functions of information broadcasting from the point of view of the user. Since the distribution of Business Intelligence content is available to a wide spectrum of users, we differentiate between the following groups of users.
· Authors and analysts
· Knowledge workers
· Information consumers
BEx Information Broadcasting is available to you in the various areas of the SAP BW Business Explorer in which the users listed above work.

Distribution Functions for Authors and Analysts

From the BEx Query Designer and BEx Web Application Designer design tools, you can publish queries and Web Templates to any BW role or directly to the Enterprise Portal. Beyond that, with both of these tools, and with the BEx Analyzer, you are able to call the BEx Broadcaster to precalculate and distribute queries, Web templates or workbooks. |
Distribution Functions for Knowledge Workers

Distribution with BEx Broadcaster |
If you are working in the BEx Analyzer, you can precalculate and distribute your workbooks with the BEx Broadcaster. If you are working in the BEx Web Analyzer or in the ad-hoc analysis of queries, you can precalculate the queries and Web applications with the BEx Broadcaster or you can generate online links and either distribute them immediately or schedule their distribution. |

Distribution with the Broadcasting Wizard |
In BEx Web applications, you get to the Broadcasting Wizard via the Distribute entry in the context menu. The Broadcasting Wizard supports you in distributing this Web application by e-mail or to the Enterprise Portal with step-by-step instructions. If the setting options in the Broadcasting Wizard are not sufficient for your needs, you can jump to the BEx Broadcaster from the Broadcasting Wizard so that you can make further settings. |
Functions and Options for Users in the Enterprise Portal
As long as Business Intelligence content has been published in the Enterprise Portal, the distributed precalculated documents with the historical data or online links are available to users in the Enterprise Portal. Based on these documents and links, users in the Enterprise Portal can have discussions or work in collaboration rooms. You can receive notification of each change to a document, for example a new precalculation, and you can add evaluations, feedback or personal notes to the documents. The Business Explorer portal role illustrates the various options that are available to you when you are working with content from SAP BW in the Enterprise Portal. Since the Business Explorer portal role contains the BEx Web Analyzer and the BEx Broadcaster itself, you can also distribute Business Intelligence content in the Enterprise Portal.
