Configuring the Discussion Service

Use

The discussion service defines the properties of discussions. SAP delivers the following discussion services preconfigured:

Discussion Service	Use
discussion	Only for discussions that are available in the Details dialog box for documents and folders and on the portal homepage
discussion simple	Only for discussions in discussion groups (in rooms)
discussion secure	Provides a secure text editor for entering discussion posts in place of the HTML editor, available for both types of discussions. This removes the option of manipulating and analyzing discussion posts by inserting URLs or JavaScript.

Procedure

1. Choose the following path in the portal: System Administration ® System Configuration ® Knowledge Management (® Configuration) ® Content Management ® Repository Managers ® Discussion Service.

2. Use the following properties to configure the discussion service required:

Property	Description
Repository prefix	Defines the repository that discussions are saved in, for example, /collaboration.
Root	Defines the folder that discussions are saved in, for example, Discussions.
No topics	Only for discussions for documents and folders: Hides the topic list (If this parameter is selected: No topic list)
Only at folders	Only for discussions for documents and folders: Suppresses the use of discussions for documents, but continues to allow discussions for folders (If this parameter is selected: Discussions are allowed only for folders)
Secure discussion	Defines whether a text editor (without JavaScript) is used instead for the HTML-B editor (manipulable with JavaScript) for security reasons. (If this parameter is selected: Text editor)

Note

Changes to the discussion services only take effect after you restart the portal.
