Mapping a Client Certificate to a User ID 

Use

A client certificate allows you to log on to the portal using a secure protocol (https) without having to enter your user ID and password.

Prerequisites

Your administrator will inform you if a client certificate has been obtained for you and if your machine has been properly prepared and configured for client authentication.

Procedure

       1.      Call up the portal using a URL starting with https://... .

The logon dialog that is displayed is similar to the regular logon dialog and contains text above the entry fields that tells you to map your certificate.

If the administrator has already mapped your certificate to your user ID, you will be able to access the portal without having to enter your user ID and password.

       2.      Enter your user ID and password. Your certificate is mapped to this user ID, and you will no longer need to enter a user ID and password.
