Metadata
Repository
With the HTML-based metadata repository, you can access information from a central point about the metadata objects from the Business Information Warehouse. This metadata especially includes important object properties and their relationships with other objects.
From the SAP Easy Access screen you get to the metadata repository via Modeling ® Administrator Workbench: Metadata Repository.
A navigation area is available on the left-hand side of the metadata repository, and a display area is on the right-hand side.
In the navigation area, you can choose the objects for which information needs to be displayed:
· Activated objects
· Local objects from the BW system
· Objects from all systems
· Business Content (SAP-delivered objects)
The existing object types are executed in the display area for the selection affected. By using the link for an object type, you receive a list of all objects belonging to this type. By using the link for an object, you receive object-specific, detailed information.
To
navigate in the metadata repository from page to page, choose
(Display Previous Page) or
(Display Next Page). By using
Main Page, you can call up the entry
page.
If you choose Search in Metadata Repository in the navigation area, the fields that need to be filled for the search criteria are displayed in the right-hand area of the screen. When a search request is made, the technical name, short texts, long texts, and SAP-delivered metadata object documentation are searched. You can find additional information under Searching Metadata.
The graphic display of metadata objects are offered in different formats (VML and SVG). You can find additional information under Displaying Graphics.
Various HTMP Export options are available to save information about Business Information Warehouse metadata objects as local files. You can find additional information under HTML Export.
Using the function area Transport Connection in the Administrator Workbench, you can exchange metadata between different systems. You can find additional information under Exchanging Metadata in XMI Format.
In the
BW documentation administration, you can create documents for metadata objects
and select them for display as online documentation. You can find additional
information under
Document Classes
and
Document
as Online Documentation.
The metadata information is automatically available as an HTTP service after the installation of the SAP BW system. You can find more information under Calling the Metadata Repository as an HTTP-Service.
