The universal worklist (UWL) provides you with an API for developing a connector to different systems from different independent software providers. This gives you central access to tasks and notifications from different systems using just one user interface.
Certification is offered to independent software providers through the local SAP Integration and Certification Center (ICC).

You use this API to create a connector from the UWL to your own tasks and notifications in different systems. The UWL uses this connector to localize the different systems and collects the corresponding information, such as tasks. The UWL provides you with central access to the tasks, notifications, and other information in the Enterprise Portal.
First, the connector creates temporary UWL entries from the data provided by a system. The connector then transfers the entries to the UWL, which saves them and displays them as a task or notification in the corresponding view in the Enterprise Portal.
You perform general procedures such as viewing, forwarding, and executing tasks in the same way for all connected systems.
A plug-in is available in NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI). You can find example code and a cookbook for developing such a connector in this API on the SAP Developer Network (SDN). The example code is for the SAP Office Notification Connector (SONiC). This is on the SDN at Downloads ® EP.
