Use

The synchronization of mobile devices is no longer controlled by a servlet on the J2EE Engine. It is now controlled directly using a service in the SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP. The use of the synchronization mechanism is limited (see Note 717510). As an alternative, you can continue to use the old synchronization mechanism.

Customizing

The new service must be configured (see Setting Up a Synchronization Service and Activating a Synchronization Service and Protocol). Some of the old configuration steps, however, such as the step to create a properties file, are no longer necessary.
